Head of MEP (Lagos)

About the role

An engineering and technical services company, specialising in project execution and Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems for construction, is hiring a Head of MEP in Lagos. The Head of MEP oversees all the company's MEP projects, from design through to delivery, and acts as the link between project ownership and delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the planning, design and implementation of MEP systems so they meet specifications, codes and standards.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers and construction teams to integrate MEP systems into overall project designs.
• Manage project budgets, estimate costs for MEP materials, labour and equipment and control expenses.
• Schedule and supervise installation of MEP systems on time, within budget and to specification.
• Facilitate communication between clients, contractors and team members.
• Perform quality control checks on MEP installations against industry standards and regulations.
• Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors for MEP materials and services.
• Investigate and implement innovative MEP technologies and sustainable practices.
• Manage the full project life cycle, including health, safety, quality and environmental standards, and manage project teams and risk mitigation plans.

Required profile

• First degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a reputable institution or equivalent.
• At least 15 years of experience, with evidence of leading at least three large projects in this field.
• Proven experience managing HVAC, electrical, plumbing and fire protection works on construction projects.
• Experience managing large-scale MEP projects.

Required skills

• Strong leadership, communication, project management and stakeholder management skills.
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and other design software is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
