Head of Engineering & Estimation - Fire Protection

About the role

NAFFCO Future Concerns Fire Systems (NAFFCO FCFS), the Nigerian arm of NAFFCO, designs, supplies, supervises the installation of and maintains fire-fighting, fire alarm and life safety systems for industrial, oil & gas, commercial and infrastructure clients. It is looking for an experienced Head of Engineering & Estimation to lead its technical team and act as the company's technical authority for design, estimation and system delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop the Engineering & Estimation team (engineers, estimators, tender engineers).
• Review and approve fire-fighting designs, hydraulic calculations and shop drawings before issue (design review gate).
• Approve BOQs, cost estimates and subcontractor technical offers, ensuring they are accurate, competitive and delivered on time.
• Support sales with technical solutions, value engineering and client / consultant clarifications.
• Oversee material submittals, technical approvals and compliance with NFPA and local codes.
• Lead testing, commissioning and authority approvals, and set technical standards for AMC and maintenance works.
• Provide technical oversight of installation through the subcontractor panel, including quality audits and ITP sign-off.
• Build and maintain the company's rates database, design standards and engineering procedures.

Required profile

• B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering; COREN registration (or eligibility).
• 10+ years' experience in fire-fighting systems, including at least 5 years in a lead or managerial role.
• Strong command of NFPA standards (NFPA 13, 14, 15, 20, 22, 25, 2001).
• Proven estimation and tendering skills: quantity take-off, BOQ pricing and cost control.
• Added value: oil & gas experience, good knowledge of NAFFCO products, and certifications such as CFPS, NICET or PMP.

Required skills

• Hands-on hydraulic calculation and design for sprinkler, hydrant, deluge, foam and clean agent systems.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and hydraulic calculation software; BIM / Revit exposure is an advantage.
• Leadership, communication and client-facing skills.
