Head of Information Technology (IT) – Banking

About the role

Our client, a reputable micro‑finance bank in Lagos, is seeking an experienced Head of Information Technology to lead the bank’s technology function. The role combines strategic planning with hands‑on oversight of core banking systems, infrastructure and security, ensuring compliance with CBN and NDPA regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute the bank’s IT strategy in line with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
• Provide strategic direction across IT infrastructure, applications, cybersecurity, digital platforms and technology operations.
• Manage and maintain the BankOne core banking application, including performance, availability, security, upgrades and vendor coordination.
• Oversee networks, servers, databases, endpoints and communication systems to ensure high availability, reliability and scalability.
• Implement and enforce IT policies, procedures, standards and change‑management controls.
• Drive digital transformation projects and advise senior management on technology matters.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria, Nigeria Data Protection Act and other relevant regulations.

Required profile

• Minimum 5–8 years of senior‑level experience in banking IT operations.
• Proven experience managing core banking applications, preferably BankOne.
• Strong background in IT infrastructure management and cybersecurity within financial services.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver technology solutions that support business objectives.
• Familiarity with CBN, NDPA and other regulatory frameworks.
