Head of Accounts

About the role

Kenex Konsults International is looking for a Head of Accounts based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. The role oversees the daily accounting operations and financial activities of the organisation and supervises the accounts team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review financial statements, management accounts, budgets and financial reports, and ensure monthly, quarterly and annual reports are submitted on time.
• Monitor cash flow, income, expenditure and financial transactions, and supervise the accounts team for accurate bookkeeping and documentation.
• Develop and implement accounting procedures, policies and internal control systems, and coordinate budgeting, financial forecasting and expenditure control.
• Monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and bank reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with tax laws, financial regulations and accounting standards, and liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, banks and regulators.
• Analyse financial performance and advise management on cost control and profitability; review invoices, vouchers and receipts for accuracy and approval.
• Identify financial risks and irregularities, maintain secure financial records, and perform other finance duties assigned by management.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA or equivalent is an advantage.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, including supervisory or managerial experience.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting and taxation.
• Excellent communication, report-writing and leadership skills, with high accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
