Head of Account

About the role

The Head of Account will lead the accounting function for a multi‑entity manufacturing group, ensuring accurate month‑end closing, inventory valuation and intercompany reconciliation. This senior position reports to senior finance leadership and oversees a team of accounting officers.

Key responsibilities

• Own the monthly closing calendar, enforce deadlines and review trial balances for cut‑off integrity.
• Prepare monthly P&L, balance sheet and cash‑flow statements with variance analysis.
• Supervise inventory accounting, cost allocation, stock‑count supervision and COGS reconciliation.
• Manage customer receivables, ageing analysis, credit limits and bad‑debt provisions.
• Lead intercompany reconciliations, elimination schedules and group reporting.
• Develop and enforce segregation of duties, maker‑checker controls and ERP access security.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance or related field; professional designation (ACCA, ACA, ICAN, CPA) preferred.
• 6‑10 years progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years supervising staff in a multi‑entity, inventory‑heavy environment.

Required skills

• Advanced ERP expertise (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Odoo, Sage 300, QuickBooks Enterprise).
• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, XLOOKUP, scenario modelling).
• Strong knowledge of inventory accounting, product costing (FIFO/Weighted Average) and intercompany eliminations.
