Hardware & IoT Engineer (Lagos Island)

About the role

Picsible Technologies is looking for a Hardware & IoT Engineer based in Lagos (on the Island) to design, prototype, build and test connected hardware products. The role spans electronics, embedded systems, firmware, IoT connectivity and software integration, working across the full process from concept to deployment alongside the software and product teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and prototype electronic devices, select components and build and test prototypes on development boards, breadboards and PCBs
• Develop firmware for microcontroller-based devices (especially ESP32-class) and debug hardware and firmware issues
• Build devices communicating over Wi-Fi, Bluetooth/BLE and other protocols, integrating them with APIs and cloud services
• Connect hardware to the BizOPD software platform and define device events, APIs and data structures with software engineers
• Test hardware and firmware extensively, troubleshoot issues and document findings
• Turn product requirements into technical solutions, research technologies and build quick prototypes

Required profile

• Practical experience with several of the listed technologies; strong hands-on ability and quick learning are more important than knowing everything
• Comfortable moving between hardware, firmware and software, and working in a fast-moving startup environment
• Independent researcher who can troubleshoot from first principles and communicates clearly with technical and non-technical colleagues

Required skills

• ESP32 or similar microcontrollers, Embedded C/C++, electronics and circuit design
• PCB design, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth/BLE, REST APIs, MQTT or similar protocols
• Sensor integration, UART, I2C and SPI, Git, hardware prototyping and embedded debugging
• Nice to have: OTA updates, IoT security, offline-capable systems, Linux-based systems, hardware manufacturing, 3D printing, industrial automation and machine integration
