Geoscientist – Seismic Imaging Contractor

About the role

Seismic Swift AI is seeking an experienced geoscientist to lead the validation and adjudication of our machine‑learning‑driven seismic imaging workflows. You will work directly with our engineering team to ensure that synthetic and field data products meet the highest standards of quality and commercial readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Reproduce published recovery and image‑quality metrics from a clean clone of our code base and resolve any discrepancies.
• Adjudicate the Marmousi full‑waveform inversion (FWI) result, testing hypotheses about illumination normalization and line‑search strategies.
• Review synthetic acquisition setups for realism, including geometry, offsets, source signatures, and surface handling.
• Perform a velocity‑model‑building pass on real datasets such as Volve and Sleipner, evaluating gathers, residual move‑out on CIGs, well ties, and illumination sanity.
• Provide a commercial‑readiness verdict to determine whether a VP of Subsurface would accept the deliverable.

Required profile

• Essential MSc or PhD in geophysics with at least 8 years of production seismic experience in an operator, processing house, or service company.
• Hands‑on experience in velocity model building, reflection tomography, depth conversion, anisotropy, free‑surface and multiple handling.
• Proven ability to evaluate vendor imaging deliverables and document acceptance decisions.
• Strong Python and NumPy skills sufficient to read existing code and write measurement scripts.
• Willingness to provide written, evidence‑based critiques of results, even when they contradict client expectations.

Required skills

• Python
• NumPy

What we offer

• Opportunity to work at the intersection of geoscience and cutting‑edge AI technology.
• Collaborative environment with senior engineers and scientists.
• Contract‑based engagement with competitive compensation.
