Generator Technician (Full-time)

About the role

The Generator Technician is responsible for the reliable operation and upkeep of generator sets across sites in Abuja and Rivers State. This full-time position ensures power continuity by performing routine maintenance, inspections, and troubleshooting of all generator equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain all generator sets, ensuring optimal performance.
• Conduct regular inspections, troubleshooting, and corrective actions.
• Test battery charge, perform hydrometer and lead‑acid testing, and monitor radiator water and engine oil levels.
• Maintain accurate logs of operating parameters, oil changes, filter replacements, and load‑test results.
• Perform weekly no‑load testing and record readings on the standard run‑test form.
• Replace oil and filters as required and keep detailed records of all activities.
• Carry out any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• SSCE / GCE / NECO qualification.
• Minimum 3 years experience as a Generator Technician.
• Trade apprenticeship or comparable vocational training.
• Ability to estimate task duration and work independently or within a team.
• Capability to perform duties without direct supervision.

Required skills

• Generator set operation and maintenance.
