General Manager - Travel & Tour Agency

About the role

A travel and tour agency on Allen Avenue, Ikeja, is looking for an experienced General Manager to oversee its overall operations, business growth and strategic direction. The role covers revenue generation, tour package development, corporate sales, IATA compliance, team leadership and high-level client relationships. It is a full-time position reporting to the Managing Director or the Board of Directors.

Key responsibilities

• Drive company revenue, client acquisition and profit margins; formulate marketing plans for corporate travel, leisure tours, visa assistance and luxury holiday packages; secure corporate accounts, B2B partners and group tours.
• Oversee ticketing/reservation, tour packaging, corporate sales and customer care, supervise and train staff, and ensure smooth workflow between operations, accounting and marketing.
• Build partnerships with airlines, DMCs, hotel chains and tourism providers, and negotiate trade rates, corporate overrides and commissions.
• Ensure compliance with IATA, NANTA and NCAA regulations, monitor budgets, sales and cash flow, and handle escalated customer complaints.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Tourism Management, Business Administration, Hospitality or a related field; an MBA or postgraduate qualification is an advantage.
• Minimum 5-8 years in the travel and tour industry, including at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
• IATA certification or familiarity with IATA and local bodies (e.g. NANTA) is strongly preferred.

Required skills

• Proficiency in GDS such as Amadeus, Sabre or Galileo.
• Strong knowledge of visa processing, ticketing rules and international tour packaging.
• Leadership, corporate negotiation, public relations, problem-solving and financial acumen.

What we offer

• Gross salary of N500,000 per month.
• Performance-based bonuses and commissions on company sales targets.
