General Manager / Senior General Manager - Mechanical

About the role

Dangote Industries Limited is looking for a General Manager / Senior General Manager for its mechanical function at the Head Office in Lagos. The role provides strategic leadership for mechanical maintenance, reliability and equipment performance across the cement plant, ensuring equipment reliability, availability and optimal performance in support of production targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run the mechanical maintenance and reliability strategy, including preventive, predictive, condition-based and corrective maintenance programmes.
• Lead major shutdowns, equipment overhauls and maintenance projects, with planning, resource deployment, safety and cost control.
• Manage the mechanical maintenance budget, manpower and capital expenditure.
• Set and monitor KPIs such as equipment availability, reliability, maintenance cost, schedule compliance and asset utilisation.
• Use the CMMS for work orders, equipment history and performance monitoring.
• Lead mechanical modifications, upgrades and capital improvement projects, and oversee spare-parts planning and inventory.
• Ensure HSE compliance, engineering standards and safe work practices.
• Coach and mentor the mechanical team, build succession plans and promote a culture of safety and reliability.
• Report to senior plant management on equipment performance, reliability, maintenance spend and major risks.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field; a postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Maintenance Management or Business Administration is an added advantage.
• Professional engineering membership is an advantage.
• Extensive progressive experience in mechanical maintenance, equipment reliability and asset management in a cement manufacturing environment, including senior maintenance leadership.
• Hands-on experience with major cement equipment and major shutdowns/overhauls.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary technical teams, maintenance budgets and reliability improvement initiatives.
