General Manager – Marine Works Division

About the role

Adexen is looking for an experienced General Manager to lead its Marine Works Division in Lagos, Nigeria. The role will drive the rehabilitation of the Lagos Port, a $1.3 billion infrastructure project, and build long‑term marine capabilities across West Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the division’s strategy, operating model, resources and performance standards.
• Oversee delivery of large‑scale marine infrastructure projects, ensuring safety, schedule, budget and quality compliance.
• Manage financial performance, budgets, cost control, forecasts, claims and profitability.
• Lead stakeholder engagement with clients, port authorities, government agencies and local communities.
• Develop and mentor a multidisciplinary team, fostering a culture of safety, collaboration and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Marine or Coastal Engineering.
• Minimum 20 years of experience in marine construction, port development or major infrastructure projects.
• Proven senior leadership experience (General Manager, Operations Director, Project Director, etc.).
• Strong commercial acumen and experience managing large budgets.
• Demonstrated ability to operate in challenging environments, preferably in Africa or emerging markets.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Primavera P6.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Project.
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
• Professional engineering certification; PMP or equivalent is a plus.
