GBV / Protection Case Management Specialist

About the role

The GBV / Protection Case Management Specialist will support the Danish Refugee Council’s protection programme in Nigeria, focusing on gender‑based violence (GBV) response across the northeast and northwest regions. Based in Abuja, the specialist reports to the Head of Programme and works under the supervision of the Protection Coordinator.

Key responsibilities

• Provide case management support to GBV survivors, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to DRC protection standards.
• Coordinate protection activities with DRC field offices in Maiduguri, Sokoto and other operational sites.
• Collect, analyse and report case data to inform programme planning and donor reporting.
• Facilitate referrals to health, psychosocial and legal services in collaboration with partners.
• Contribute to the development and updating of GBV response protocols and tools.

Required profile

• National candidate with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in social sciences, humanitarian studies or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in GBV case management or protection work in humanitarian settings.
• Strong knowledge of international protection standards and the Nigerian humanitarian context.
• Excellent communication skills in English and ability to work in a multi‑cultural team.
