Game Developer / Programmer (Unreal Engine)

About the role

Kucheza Gaming is looking for a passionate Game Developer/Programmer to help build an African‑focused indie title. You will work in a hybrid setting, collaborating closely with design and art teams to bring engaging gameplay to life using Unreal Engine.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement gameplay features in Unreal Engine using C++ or Blueprints.
• Collaborate with designers and artists to ensure an optimized, fun player experience.
• Write clean, maintainable code and use profiling and memory‑management tools to fine‑tune performance.
• Track tasks in Jira and manage source code with Git or Perforce.
• Debug and resolve gameplay issues, participate in code reviews, and uphold best coding practices.

Required profile

• Beginner to intermediate experience with Unreal Engine and C++ or Blueprints.
• Basic familiarity with task‑tracking (Jira) and version‑control systems (Git, Perforce).
• Understanding of performance optimisation and memory management.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities, teamwork mindset, and genuine passion for game development.
