Financial Controller

About the role

The Financial Controller leads the financial control and reporting function, ensuring the integrity, accuracy and completeness of financial records, compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements, effective internal controls and timely financial reporting. The role supports sound business decisions and works closely with the CFO on financial governance, liquidity oversight and finance transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in line with IFRS, regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Oversee the month-end and year-end close, ensuring accurate recording and reporting within agreed timelines.
• Manage the General Ledger and Chart of Accounts, and drive balance sheet governance through reconciliation reviews and resolution of outstanding items.
• Develop, implement and maintain financial control frameworks, accounting policies and governance processes.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, resolve audit findings and implement corrective actions.
• Review and approve key accounting entries, provisions, accruals and financial adjustments.
• Provide accounting guidance for new business initiatives, products, projects and strategic investments.
• Monitor and strengthen internal controls to protect assets and mitigate financial risk.
• Drive automation, process optimization and continuous improvement, and partner with business units, Risk, Compliance, Technology and Operations teams.
• Prepare financial analysis, management reports and performance insights for executives; manage regulatory, statutory and financial reporting submissions.
• Lead, mentor and develop the Financial Control team.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline.
• Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACA, ACCA, ANAN or equivalent.
• Minimum 10-13 years of experience in Financial Control, Financial Reporting, Audit or Corporate Finance, including at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in Fintech or Banking is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial reporting standards, internal controls, taxation and regulatory compliance.
• Good understanding of the financial services regulatory environment and policies.
