Financial Controller (Energy Sector, Nigeria)

About the role

Achytam International is recruiting a Financial Controller for a company operating in the energy sector in Nigeria. The role oversees financial reporting, controls, budgeting and compliance in line with Nigerian regulations and IFRS standards, ensuring strong financial governance, supporting strategic decisions and managing risks linked to energy operations. Females are preferred.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements under IFRS, and maintain accurate management accounts and internal controls.
• Oversee general ledger integrity, reconciliations and closing processes.
• Lead annual budgeting and periodic forecasting, monitor performance against budgets and provide variance analysis, and support project and CAPEX tracking.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian statutory requirements (FIRS, NUPRC/NMDPRA, NERC, CAC) and oversee filing of taxes such as CIT, VAT, WHT and PAYE.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants and regulators.
• Manage cash flow, liquidity and working capital, oversee bank relationships and loan covenants, and monitor FX exposure.
• Supervise and develop the finance and accounting team and work with operations, procurement and project teams.

Required profile

• Graduate or Master's degree in Accounts and Finance, or semi-qualified CA/ICWAI/CMA.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or distribution company.
• Preference for candidates with international exposure, especially those who have worked in Africa.
