Finance Officer – Accounting & Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are seeking a detail‑oriented Finance Officer to manage daily financial operations, maintain accurate records, ensure tax compliance and provide timely financial reports that support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain daily bookkeeping, post entries to the general ledger, manage accounts payable/receivable and update the fixed asset register.
• Perform weekly and monthly bank reconciliations, resolving any discrepancies promptly.
• Prepare and file monthly/annual tax returns (VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT) in line with FIRS and state regulations.
• Process monthly payroll, ensuring correct tax, pension and statutory deductions.
• Assist in preparing monthly Management Accounts, Profit & Loss statements and Balance Sheets for management review.
• Support the finance lead with annual budgeting, forecasting and monitoring departmental spend.
• Act as primary contact during internal and external audits, providing organized documentation.
• Oversee petty cash, ensuring disbursements are authorized and supported by valid receipts.

Required profile

• B.Sc or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Strong integrity, confidentiality and analytical problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills to explain financial data to non‑finance staff.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, etc.).
• Hands‑on experience with accounting software such as Sage 50, QuickBooks or Tally.
