Deputy Vice-Chancellor

About the role

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor will support the Vice-Chancellor in driving the university’s vision, mission and strategic initiatives, overseeing academic units and ensuring high standards of teaching, research and governance.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Vice-Chancellor in implementing the university’s vision, mission, strategic plans and policies.
• Supervise academic faculties, departments, centres and other assigned academic units.
• Coordinate academic planning, programme development, curriculum review and quality assurance.
• Monitor teaching, learning, research, examinations and overall academic performance.
• Promote research, innovation, scholarly publications and national/international collaborations.
• Oversee delivery of open, distance and blended learning programmes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, accreditation requirements and university policies.
• Support staff development, academic promotion and professional training.
• Review academic reports and recommend improvements to the Vice-Chancellor and relevant committees.
• Represent the Vice-Chancellor at official meetings and functions when delegated.

Required profile

• PhD in a relevant discipline with a distinguished academic record.
• Extensive university teaching and research experience.
• Proven experience in academic administration, faculty or departmental leadership.
• Evidence of scholarly publications, research contributions and professional achievements.
• Strong leadership, communication, strategic planning and organisational skills.
• Eligibility consistent with the university’s appointment criteria and regulatory requirements.
