Deputy Engineer - Electrical Maintenance

About the role

The Deputy Engineer – Electrical Maintenance will support the plant’s electrical systems to minimise downtime and ensure reliable operation. Working on‑site at Dangote Petroleum & Petrochemicals in Abeokuta, you will lead preventive maintenance, supervise a team and manage spare parts to keep equipment running at optimal performance.

Key responsibilities

• Install, test, commission and maintain electrical equipment including circuit breakers, transformers, MCC, PCC, MV/LV switchboards and VFDs.
• Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on HT/LT motors, generators, cables, battery chargers and air‑conditioning systems.
• Allocate daily tasks, provide technical guidance to sub‑ordinates and ensure compliance with safety and housekeeping standards.
• Maintain spare‑parts inventory and oversee plant lighting and earthing systems.
• Prepare and submit power reports, maintenance checklists, daily job reports and other documentation.
• Train junior staff and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum six (6) years of relevant post‑qualification experience in industrial electrical maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of cement manufacturing processes and related electrical systems.
• Familiarity with safety legislation, ISO 9000 standards and TPM practices.

Required skills

• Low, Medium and High Voltage systems (MV/LV switchboards, HT/LT motors, transformers).
• Circuit breakers, MCC, PCC, VFDs, generators and battery chargers.
• Electrical measuring and testing equipment, cable termination, and earthing systems.
• Interpretation of electrical and electronic diagrams.
• Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and predictive inspection tools.
