Cybersecurity Specialist

About the role

This role combines active participation in cybersecurity operations with the delivery of practical, hands-on training to students. The successful candidate will have a solid understanding of core cybersecurity principles and extensive experience using security tools, and will turn complex technical concepts into accessible lessons, demonstrations and practical activities.

Key responsibilities

• Design and run training sessions from introductory to intermediate level in cybersecurity
• Instruct students on network security, ethical hacking methodologies and industry-standard security practices
• Develop and run practical labs, exercises and real-world cybersecurity projects
• Familiarise learners with security utilities such as Wireshark, Nmap, Burp Suite and vulnerability scanners
• Facilitate vulnerability assessments and support basic security testing
• Oversee system and network monitoring to spot and address threats
• Aid in deploying security policies, controls and best practices
• Help investigate security incidents and document findings
• Write learning resources such as assignments and assessments, and mentor students on their careers

Required profile

• Strong foundation in cybersecurity concepts and theory
• Proven hands-on experience with industry-standard security tools
• Ability to explain technical information clearly to diverse audiences
• Experience developing curriculum, including labs, exercises and materials
• Strong mentorship skills and commitment to guiding students' careers
