Country Director – Nigeria

About the role

The Country Director is the senior-most representative of Resolve to Save Lives in Nigeria, responsible for leading the affiliate, shaping strategy, and ensuring the organization’s reputation, operational performance and legal fiduciary responsibilities. The role bridges global initiatives with Nigeria’s local context, adapting evidence‑based solutions to national health priorities and driving measurable public‑health impact.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the principal liaison with federal and state governments, public‑health agencies, donors, multilateral organisations and the RTSL Nigeria Board, building trusted, long‑term partnerships.
• Develop, implement and regularly review an integrated country strategy that aligns Nigeria’s health needs with RTSL’s global programmes and funding commitments.
• Lead the Nigeria portfolio across cardiovascular health, epidemic preparedness, primary health care and emerging programmes, ensuring coherence, coordination and results‑based management.
• Oversee legal, financial, procurement, compliance and risk management functions, guaranteeing fiduciary stewardship and operational excellence.
• Recruit, develop and manage a diverse multidisciplinary team, fostering an inclusive, high‑performing culture and ensuring staff safety and well‑being.
• Contribute to senior leadership teams, share country insights globally and support collective decision‑making across programmes and shared services.

Required profile

• Extensive senior leadership experience in public‑health, health‑systems strengthening or related sectors, preferably with government and donor engagement.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain high‑level relationships with government officials, multilateral partners and civil‑society organisations.
• Proven accountability for legal, financial and operational stewardship of an organisation or large programme.
• Strong track record of leading multidisciplinary teams, promoting inclusive culture and delivering results in complex environments.
