Cost Controller - Oil & Gas Projects

About the role

The client is an operator specializing in Oil & Gas projects. The Cost Controller supports the Project Management on all budget and cost control matters, including project activity costs and general cost reporting. The position is open only to Nigerian nationals.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in organizing, coordinating and controlling project activities by informing, supporting and directing personnel in their roles and objectives.
• Advise on and propose improvements to the project coding structure.
• Propose improvements to project and corporate procedures, means and tools for efficient cost control.
• Take part in preparing, consolidating and reviewing project budgets (internal and external, annual and multi-year) and provide ad hoc economic support.
• Check and approve invoices against contracts, project and company procedures, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and delegation of authority.
• Provide input to the UNISUP system on payment schedules (cash calls), invoicing and cost control.
• Prepare cost information and data for subsidiaries, partners, shareholders, concessionaires and the company.
• Assist in assessing contract variations, track cost trends, variances and drifts, update the final cost estimate and prepare the monthly cost report with comments.
• Liaise with the Finance Department on funding, commitments, invoice processing, payments, accruals, payment claims and disputes.
• Keep all budget and cost documentation confidential and report progress and concerns to the Project Finance & Control Manager.
• Gather lessons learned and share feedback with other company entities.

Required profile

• 5-10 years of professional experience.
• 2+ years in a similar position.
• BSc or equivalent in a related field.
• English is mandatory.
• Nigerian nationality only.
