Compliance Officer

About the role

FMR Agency is hiring a full-time Compliance Officer in Enugu, Nigeria, to monitor the bank's operations and ensure they comply with applicable laws, CBN regulations and internal policies. The role covers policy development, regulatory reporting, investigations and training, working closely with internal audit, risk management and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor bank operations against laws, CBN regulations and internal policies, and develop, review and implement compliance policies, procedures and internal controls.
• Ensure adherence to AML, CTF and KYC requirements.
• Conduct periodic compliance reviews and identify regulatory breaches or operational risks.
• Prepare and submit regulatory reports and returns on time, and follow up on compliance gaps.
• Track changes in banking regulations and advise management on their implications.
• Investigate breaches, document findings and recommend corrective actions.
• Collaborate with internal audit, risk management, operations and other departments, and run compliance training for staff.
• Maintain accurate records of compliance activities, investigations, correspondence and audit findings, and support regulatory examinations, internal audits and external inspections.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking and Finance, Business Administration, Law or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in compliance, risk management, internal control or regulatory affairs within banking or financial services.
• Good knowledge of CBN regulations and compliance requirements for microfinance banks; understanding of AML/CTF, KYC and financial crime prevention.
• Professional certification in compliance, risk management or anti-money laundering is an added advantage.
