Cloud & Deployment Engineer

About the role

We’re looking for a Cloud & Infrastructure Engineer to build, secure, and maintain scalable platform infrastructure and delivery pipelines. The role combines hands‑on experience with managed PaaS platforms and core AWS services such as RDS, S3 and Lambda, and requires strong capabilities in Infrastructure as Code, automated CI/CD, and transactional email deliverability.

Key responsibilities

• Assess the existing infrastructure, produce a written assessment and define a target architecture across PaaS platforms (Heroku, Render, Elastic Beanstalk, App Runner) and supporting AWS services.
• Implement infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, CDK or Pulumi, including IAM, VPC, security groups and secrets management.
• Provision, tune and maintain AWS RDS databases, configure automated backups, point‑in‑time recovery and perform restore tests.
• Configure S3 buckets with appropriate policies, lifecycle rules, encryption and set up CDN delivery where needed.
• Develop, deploy and operate serverless Lambda functions, handling retries, dead‑letter queues and integrating them into the CI/CD pipeline.
• Set up transactional email services (SES, SendGrid, Postmark), manage domain authentication and monitor deliverability.
• Build CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) with automated tests, migrations, blue‑green or canary deployments and one‑step rollback.
• Establish centralized logging, metrics and alerting, review compliance (HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2) and implement cost‑visibility tagging.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience with production‑grade PaaS platforms.
• Hands‑on experience provisioning, tuning and recovering AWS RDS databases.
• Strong knowledge of AWS S3 bucket policies, lifecycle management and encryption.
• Proficiency building and operating AWS Lambda functions in production.
• Experience configuring transactional email services and managing SPF/DKIM/DMARC.
• Demonstrated ability to design and maintain CI/CD pipelines that teams rely on.
