Trading Engineer

About the role

Busha is a digital currency exchange offering trading in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, and is building its spot exchange, Busha Pro. It is looking for a Trading Engineer to own and improve the systems that process orders, match trades and support exchange operations in production, making them faster and safer.

Key responsibilities

• Learn the codebase deeply, operate the exchange in production and harden it.
• Design, build and optimize backend systems, including matching engine components, order books, order processing and trade execution workflows.
• Build reliable systems that handle high transaction volumes with speed, accuracy and consistency, keeping matching deterministic under peak load.
• Work on REST, WebSocket and later FIX APIs, real-time market data, event-driven services and integrations.
• Improve performance, reduce latency, benchmark and profile the matching path, and load-test against realistic traffic.
• Add safeguards such as pre-trade risk checks, price bands, circuit breakers, failover and disaster recovery.
• Keep the ledger exact: atomic trades and fees, real-time balances, and crypto and fiat deposits and withdrawals reconciled with custody and banking records.
• Add trading pairs, order types (e.g. OCO, take-profit and stop-loss) and features with zero downtime.
• Analyze product requirements, write clean, testable code, take part in code reviews and feature ownership from design through monitoring.
• Share the on-call rotation, collaborate with Product, Engineering and DevOps, and share knowledge.

Required profile

• 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong backend development.
• Strong in Go, or strong in Rust, C++ or Java and willing to work primarily in Go.
• Experience building, operating or improving trading systems, matching engines or similar real-time transaction platforms.
• Experience running systems in production, including on-call and incident response.
• Experience at a cryptocurrency exchange, financial trading platform or electronic market; familiarity with risk controls, settlement, market data, wallets, custody, blockchain nodes and FIX protocols.

Required skills

• Order books, matching logic, trade execution, idempotency, exactly-once processing and low-latency, high-availability systems.
• Data structures, algorithms, databases and distributed systems; API and event-driven service design.
• Profiling, latency percentiles (p99+), memory and garbage collection tuning.
• Linux internals (threading, CPU and NUMA effects, system calls) and TCP/UDP networking.
• Testing through simulation, fuzzing or replaying production traffic.
