Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Digital Banking

About the role

The newly acquired micro‑finance bank is seeking a forward‑thinking Chief Financial Officer to lead both financial stewardship and strategic digital transformation. Reporting to the MD/CEO and working closely with the Board, the CFO will shape the bank’s growth agenda and guide its transition to a national MFB licence.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a 5‑year strategic plan focused on digital products, channels and operations.
• Drive digital transformation initiatives such as digital lending, mobile banking, agent banking and fintech partnerships.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, scenario planning and ensure timely, IFRS‑compliant financial reporting.
• Monitor P&L, balance‑sheet, liquidity, capital adequacy and profitability, recommending corrective actions.
• Oversee treasury, asset‑liability management and funding strategy.
• Manage capital planning to meet CBN MFB requirements and support the national licence transition.
• Build relationships with investors, lenders and development finance institutions; lead equity, quasi‑equity or debt raising.
• Collaborate with Risk, Audit & Compliance to maintain a robust enterprise risk framework.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in senior financial leadership within banking or micro‑finance.
• Proven track record of driving digital transformation and managing large‑scale financial projects.
• Deep knowledge of CBN regulatory requirements, IFRS standards and capital adequacy guidelines.
• Strong analytical mindset with ability to use data and MIS for strategic decision‑making.
• Excellent communication skills to advise the Board and senior executives.
