Chartered Accountant (Finance & Accounts, Senior Cover)

About the role

A senior Accountant (Chartered Accountant) is sought for the Finance & Accounts department at the Head Office. The role ensures the integrity of financial reporting, IFRS 9 loan provisioning and CBN/NDIC regulatory returns, and includes standing in for the Financial Controller while growing into a broader finance leadership path.

Key responsibilities

• Act for the Financial Controller when required, including attending management meetings, approving transactions and overseeing the finance team.
• Prepare monthly management accounts, statutory quarterly and annual statements (IFRS) and timely regulatory returns through the CBN and NDIC portals.
• Maintain ledger integrity, oversee month-end and year-end closures, and resolve bank, suspense and inter-branch reconciliations promptly.
• Monitor capital adequacy, liquidity and loan-to-deposit ratios, flagging early warnings or breaches.
• Compute IFRS 9 Expected Credit Loss (ECL) provisions, manage tax computations (CIT, VAT, WHT, PAYE) and statutory remittances.
• Coordinate internal and external audits, support annual budget tracking and implement internal financial controls.

Required profile

• B.Sc. / HND in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Associate membership of ICAN (ACA) or ACCA is mandatory; CITN or a relevant Master's degree is an added advantage.
• At least 5 years of post-qualification accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a microfinance bank, commercial bank or other CBN-regulated financial institution.
• Strong leadership, attention to detail, integrity and ability to work under tight regulatory deadlines.
