Central Control Room Operator

About the role

The Central Control Room Operator coordinates the production shift team to achieve safe, efficient and cost‑effective cement manufacturing while maintaining product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Operate cement plant equipment in line with HBM Nigeria best practices and safety standards.
• Control major process lines, including commissioning, start‑ups, shutdowns and emergency conditions according to SOPs.
• Continuously monitor all plant processes to ensure equipment integrity, environmental compliance and production targets.
• Maintain equipment condition by following usage instructions, monitoring performance and notifying maintenance when required.
• Coordinate with field personnel to ensure smooth plant operation and meet quality specifications.
• Track production results such as volume and energy consumption to achieve plant KPIs.
• Direct Patrollers, Process Assistants and mobile plant operators, and manage breakdown troubleshooting and overtime staffing.
• Lead safety meetings, conduct radio communication monitoring and complete required production logs.
• Serve as liaison with the Automation Engineer for major equipment issues and act as Plant Emergency Response Coordinator.

Required profile

• At least one month of relevant experience operating control‑room equipment in a cement or similar industrial environment.
• Ability to follow SOPs, safety procedures and environmental standards.
• Experience in supervising shift personnel and coordinating with maintenance and automation teams.
• Capability to respond to emergencies and conduct safety briefings.
