Business Development Officer - Cross-Border Payments & FX

About the role

Eziplug FX is a cross-border payments and foreign exchange business operating since 2022, providing liquidity and payment solutions for international transactions. It is recruiting a full-time, on-site or hybrid Business Development Officer in Abuja to support customer acquisition and market expansion. The officer identifies businesses with recurring FX and international payment needs, reaches the right people and brings qualified customers to the team for onboarding.

Key responsibilities

• Prospect businesses such as importers, exporters, travel agencies, education agents, real estate developers, e-commerce businesses, fintechs and payment service providers, and conduct outreach by cold calling, email, visits, networking and referrals.
• Identify decision-makers, qualify prospects by transaction volume, payment frequency and preferred currencies, and introduce Eziplug FX's products and services.
• Maintain customer relationships, follow up with inactive customers and own accounts from introduction through onboarding and first transaction.
• Research new industries and competitors, build referral partner relationships, represent the company at events and give management feedback on market opportunities.
• Keep records of leads and customers, submit regular business development reports and work with operations and compliance teams on onboarding.

Required profile

• Minimum of 2 years of practical experience in business development, B2B sales, relationship management or customer acquisition, with a track record.
• Degree or HND preferred but not compulsory; experience in fintech, banking, FX, payments or international trade is an advantage.
• Ability to generate leads, acquire customers and build strong business relationships.
• Preferred: existing relationships with importers, exporters, travel agencies, fintechs or similar businesses, and experience in a startup or performance-driven environment.

Required skills

• Basic understanding of foreign exchange, international payments and business payment requirements.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and CRM tools is an advantage.
