Business Development Manager – West Africa (Nigeria Preferred)

About the role

We are seeking a results‑driven Business Development Manager to expand the commercial footprint of a global leader in process instrumentation and industrial automation across West Africa. The primary focus will be the high‑growth Nigerian market, with additional responsibility for Ghana, Liberia and Angola.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic business development plans for Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia and Angola.
• Manage existing client accounts and acquire new customers across end‑users, EPC contractors, engineering firms and OEMs.
• Identify, develop and support distributors and channel partners, including joint client visits and technical briefings.
• Prepare competitive technical and commercial proposals, lead contract negotiations and close high‑value industrial projects.
• Utilise CRM systems to track pipelines, forecast revenue, monitor competitor activity and report market intelligence.
• Collaborate with internal sales, product specialists, service engineering and marketing teams to ensure project success.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum 5 years of business development or sales experience in industrial instrumentation, process industries or automation.
• Deep knowledge of the Nigerian industrial market, preferably with a network in the oil & gas sector.
• Proven track record managing EPC contractors, channel partners and industrial end‑users.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with strong negotiation and relationship‑building skills.
