Business Development Manager – Steel Trading (Nigeria)

About the role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive growth of our steel trading activities across Nigeria. You will identify and capture high‑value opportunities in products such as hot‑rolled coil (HRC), cold‑rolled coil (CRC), galvanized iron (GI) and pre‑painted galvanized iron (PPGI).

Key responsibilities

• Own the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical consultation to contract negotiation, closing and long‑term account management.
• Analyse Nigerian market dynamics, import regulations, competitor positioning and regional demand to shape localized sales strategies.
• Work closely with supply‑chain, logistics and finance teams to navigate customs processes and ensure seamless order fulfilment.
• Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with existing clients while aggressively expanding market share to exceed sales targets.
• Represent the company at major Nigerian trade events and industry associations to raise brand visibility.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in international steel trading with a proven record in import/export operations.
• Excellent negotiation skills, strong commercial acumen and an established network within the Nigerian steel industry.
• Self‑starter able to work independently, comfortable with frequent travel and occasional regional trips.
• Fluent English for business communication.
