Business Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking a hands‑on Business Development Manager to open new markets and grow our business across Africa. The role is execution‑focused, requiring you to identify high‑potential countries, build local relationships and convert opportunities into revenue. You will work directly with banks, fintechs, payment service providers, mobile operators, government‑related organisations and distributors.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and prioritise new African markets based on demand, competition, route‑to‑market and commercial potential.
• Develop market‑entry plans for priority countries, including target accounts, local partners, product fit, pricing and sales pipeline.
• Build and maintain relationships with banks, fintechs, payment service providers, mobile operators, distributors and government‑related organisations.
• Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, needs analysis, proposal coordination, product demonstrations, negotiation and deal closure.
• Maintain a credible pipeline with clear next steps, deal value, probability and expected closing dates.
• Assess and manage local agents, distributors or strategic partners to accelerate market entry.
• Collaborate with product, technical, operations, finance and legal teams to craft customer solutions.
• Track tenders and major opportunities, qualify early and coordinate submissions.
• Provide market intelligence on demand, competitors, pricing, regulation and emerging opportunities.
• Represent the company at customer meetings, industry events and partner discussions across the region.

Required profile

• Comfortable operating independently and travelling frequently within Africa.
• Proven ability to build markets from the ground up rather than manage an existing portfolio.
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to assess market potential.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with decision‑makers.
