Automation Manager – Industrial Automation & Instrumentation

About the role

Dangote Cement Plc Obajana is looking for a highly skilled Automation Manager to lead our automation and instrumentation efforts at our production facilities. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing automation systems and instrumentation designs, as well as a passion for driving efficiency and innovation in industrial operations.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out checks related to Siemens Automation panels, Siemens system and UPS.
• Troubleshoot automation PCS and related jobs.
• Safekeeping of all automation spares, preparing purchase requests and following up.
• Maintain complete set of drawings and manuals for automation/Siemens system.
• Maintain bypass register and housekeeping of all PLC panels and cabinets.
• Maintain records of stoppage and breakdown related automation problems.
• Maintain operation system communication in the plant.
• Perform fiber optic termination and testing as required.
• Configure new operator station PC.
• Maintain QCX Automation equipment operations.
• Perform maintenance on Gamma Matrix (CBX) system.
• Maintain PXP system.
• Maintain field and Robo‑Lab automation.
• Maintain ARL (X‑Ray) machine in operation.
• Coordinate with other departments for smooth functioning of the plant.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering or a related field.
• At least 18 years of experience in automation and instrumentation management, including 9 years in a modern cement plant.
• Proven track record in designing, implementing and maintaining complex automation systems.
• Strong understanding of PLC, DCS, SCADA and other control systems.
• Excellent leadership and team management capabilities.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, able to work under pressure.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in the cement or related industries.
• Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and IoT applications.
• Professional certifications in automation or relevant areas.
