Production/Maintenance Engineer - Cookstove Manufacturing

About the role

Atmosfair Climate & Sustainability Limited, the Nigerian subsidiary of the German atmosfair gGmbH, manufactures efficient cookstoves at its Kano production plant. It is looking for a hands-on Production/Maintenance Engineer to develop, optimise and maintain machine lines and quality, and to implement new production lines. The engineer works closely with the General Manager and production technicians, reporting directly to the General Manager and coordinating with the Berlin headquarters.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse production processes, identify bottlenecks, quality issues and inefficiencies, and optimise laser cutting processes, machine settings and process parameters
• Optimise machine line supporting subsystems and infrastructure, and support installation, commissioning and integration of new machinery
• Troubleshoot mechanical and production problems, identify causes of machine downtime and develop preventive maintenance routines
• Evaluate worn or critical components and the sourcing of new machines, tools and equipment
• Improve measurement systems for evaluating cookstove performance parameters
• Improve production quality, consistency and output, reduce material waste and unnecessary costs, and document improved processes
• Establish practical production and quality standards

Required profile

• University degree in Mechanical, Production or Manufacturing Engineering or a related field
• At least 5 years of practical experience with production machinery, manufacturing processes or a comparable industrial environment
• Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing and production processes
• Practical experience with machine operation, maintenance and troubleshooting
• Experience with laser machines highly beneficial
• Experience in process optimisation and quality improvement
• Fluent business English and willingness to relocate to Kano
