Audit Team Lead / Assistant Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Audit Team Lead / Assistant Manager to oversee statutory and non‑statutory audit engagements from planning through completion. The role involves close interaction with clients, managing audit teams, and ensuring compliance with professional standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit engagements, ensuring adherence to IFRS and ISA.
• Review audit working papers, financial statements, and audit files for compliance.
• Supervise, mentor, and develop audit team members.
• Evaluate internal controls, identify risks, and provide practical recommendations.
• Maintain client relationships and communicate audit findings effectively.
• Oversee engagement budgets, timelines, documentation, and billing.
• Support business development, proposals, and client onboarding.
• Ensure compliance with professional, regulatory, and firm standards.

Required profile

• 5+ years of progressive audit experience, including 1–2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead capacity.
• ICAN qualification is mandatory.
• Bachelor's degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS, ISA, and Nigerian tax laws.
• Experience managing multiple client engagements across various sectors.

Required skills

• Proficiency in CaseWare.
• Experience with accounting/audit software.
• Knowledge of IFRS standards.
• Knowledge of ISA standards.
