About the role
The Audiologist will deliver comprehensive diagnostic, rehabilitative and preventive hearing and balance services for adult and paediatric patients at the African Medical Centre of Excellence. The role involves advanced audiological assessments, device selection and fitting, patient counselling and close collaboration with ENT and multidisciplinary teams.
Key responsibilities
- Obtain clinical histories, perform otoscopic examinations and age‑appropriate behavioural hearing assessments.
- Conduct and interpret pure‑tone and speech audiometry, tympanometry, acoustic reflex testing, otoacoustic emissions and electrophysiological tests such as ABR and ASSR.
- Perform vestibular assessments and contribute to the evaluation of dizziness, tinnitus and auditory processing difficulties.
- Select, fit, verify, programme and review hearing aids, assistive listening devices and cochlear implant pathways.
- Provide counselling on hearing loss, communication strategies, device use and realistic rehabilitation outcomes.
- Collaborate with ENT surgeons, physicians, neurologists, speech‑language therapists and other allied health professionals in multidisciplinary clinics.
- Maintain equipment, ensure calibration, infection control and compliance with Nigerian regulatory standards.
Required profile
- Minimum 5 years post‑qualification clinical audiology experience, preferably in a tertiary or multidisciplinary hospital.
- Current registration with the Medical Rehabilitation Therapists Board of Nigeria (MRTB) and a valid practising licence.
- Demonstrated competence in adult and paediatric diagnostic audiology and hearing‑device management.
- Experience with electrophysiological and/or vestibular assessment is strongly preferred.
- Commitment to ethical practice, safeguarding, continuous professional development and quality improvement.
