Assistant Electrical Manager - Cement Plant

About the role

The Assistant Electrical Manager supports the Electrical Manager in keeping all electrical systems and equipment in the plant safe, reliable and cost-effective. The role coordinates maintenance activities, projects and shift teams to minimise downtime and maximise plant availability.

Key responsibilities

• Audit electrical safety equipment and sensors, ensure safety rules are followed by subordinates and implement safety improvement plans
• Plan and prioritise repairs for motors, transformers, switchgear, VFDs, field instruments, control cards and PLCs, meeting production turnaround times
• Schedule shop work with production and maintenance planners during planned stoppages
• Prepare forecasts for electrical consumables budgets and coordinate maintenance and shutdown programmes across the quarry, VRM, kiln and packing plant
• Support electrical planners on spare parts specifications, monitor spare stock and manage spare parts and consumables in the E&I shops
• Ensure compliance with environmental and quality programmes, document electrical waste and set standards for calibration, testing and refurbishment
• Conduct root cause analysis on repeat failures and organise training on new equipment, testing methods, calibration standards and safety practices
• Manage manpower allocation, attendance and discipline in the shops, drive knowledge transfer and supervise third-party contractors
• Coordinate rapid troubleshooting and repair to minimise MTTR, prioritising faults by their impact on production areas such as the kiln, raw mill and cement mill

Required profile

• Minimum 6 years' postgraduate experience
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering
• Good knowledge of electrical and instrumentation in an integrated cement manufacturing plant
• Good knowledge of product quality parameters and quality control tests
• Good knowledge of computer-aided systems for kiln and mill operation
• Able to take initiative based on sound problem-solving skills
