Area Sales Manager – General Trade

About the role

The Area Sales Manager (General Trade) will lead sales growth, market penetration and distribution expansion for Godrej Nigeria in the Marina region of Lagos. Reporting to senior sales leadership, you will be responsible for achieving volume, value and profitability targets while developing a high‑performing sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver sales volume, value and profit targets for the assigned territory.
• Develop and execute territory sales plans aligned with business objectives.
• Monitor daily, weekly and monthly sales performance against targets.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with distributors and trade partners, reviewing performance regularly.
• Ensure excellent execution of trade activities, promotions, merchandising and shelf visibility.
• Lead, coach and mentor Sales Representatives, conducting field accompaniment and performance reviews.
• Maintain strong relationships with wholesalers, retailers and key customers, handling complaints promptly.
• Prepare accurate sales and market intelligence reports, analyse trends and recommend corrective actions.
• Manage trade spend, promotional investments and support debt collection to meet profitability goals.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of sales experience in a general‑trade or FMCG environment.
• Proven track record of achieving sales volume and profitability targets.
• Experience managing distributors and leading a sales team.
• Strong analytical ability to interpret market data and KPIs.
• Senior‑level professional with ability to work independently and drive results.
