Anticipatory Action Coordinator – Nigeria

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a National Anticipatory Action Coordinator to lead the Scaling Anticipatory Action for Displacement (SAAD) project in Nigeria. This role combines machine‑learning displacement forecasting with community‑based early warning, protection monitoring and conflict‑sensitive planning to shift humanitarian response from reaction to prevention.

Key responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the SAAD project (July 2026‑June 2028) across targeted regions in Nigeria.
• Integrate machine‑learning displacement forecasts with existing early‑warning and protection‑monitoring systems.
• Identify escalation thresholds for transhumance‑related tensions, resource competition and community‑armed group friction.
• Activate pre‑agreed anticipatory measures such as humanitarian mediation, dialogue, social‑cohesion initiatives and targeted protection services.
• Coordinate with DRC’s protection monitoring, peacebuilding programmes and external partners to ensure coherent action.
• Provide regular technical and operational reporting to the Head of Programme, Nigeria.

Required profile

• Proven experience in humanitarian coordination, especially in displacement‑focused programmes.
• Knowledge of protection monitoring and community‑based early‑warning systems.
• Familiarity with conflict dynamics and transhumance‑related tensions in Nigeria.
• Ability to lead technical teams and manage multi‑stakeholder collaborations.
