AI Research Engineer – Machine Learning

About the role

ZettaMine is seeking an experienced AI Research Engineer to lead frontier AI research, reinforcement learning, and model evaluation projects on a short‑term freelance basis. The role is fully remote and requires immediate start.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute experiments, train and evaluate cutting‑edge AI models, and develop datasets and tooling for synthetic and agentic data generation.
• Build prototypes, AI environments for coding agents, and evaluation frameworks; translate research findings into scalable AI products.
• Collaborate with research, engineering, product, and operations teams and contribute to technical reports, publications, and open‑source projects.

Required profile

• 7+ years of professional experience in machine learning research engineering, with a PhD or Master’s in AI, ML, Computer Science, or equivalent.
• Strong foundation in experimental rigor, data quality, reproducibility, and evidence‑based research; ability to work independently and mentor others.
