Accounts and Finance Executive

About the role

This role oversees the accounts and finance function, supervising senior and junior account team members and ensuring accurate, timely delivery of financial data, records and reports. It covers reporting, internal controls, cash and FX management, and coordination with auditors.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and oversee the deliverables of senior and junior account team members.
• Ensure completeness, accuracy and timely delivery of accounts and finance data, records and reports.
• Timely completion of Cognos.
• Monitor internal control systems across office and warehouse locations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports, and review journal entries, ledger reconciliations and trial balances.
• Prepare accounts and finance schedules and review daily and weekly reports for submission to the country and group Finance Heads.
• Provide financial oversight for physical stock counts, reconciliations and shrinkage investigations.
• Analyse business costs including warehousing, freight, clearing and port logistics.
• Manage liquidity, track daily cash positions across bank accounts, and monitor trade financing instruments such as Letters of Credit and Bills for Collection.
• Manage currency risk and FX exposures in line with approved rates, and follow up on intercompany, stock, AR and AP reconciliation issues.
• Coordinate with the finance team to assist statutory auditors and perform other duties assigned by Finance Heads.

Required profile

• HND or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline; Master's or MBA is an added advantage.
• Mandatory professional qualification (ICAN or ACCA).
• Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Prior experience in agribusiness, FMCG, manufacturing or logistics/supply chain companies managing multiple inventory locations is preferred.
• Willingness to visit other business locations when required.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel, ERP and accounting software (e.g. Sage Evolution, IBM Cognos).
• Good knowledge of accounting principles and standards such as IFRS.
• Attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical ability.
• People management, team building and excellent written and verbal communication.
