Accountant – Treasury & Trading Operations

About the role

Lightway Group is seeking a detail‑oriented Accountant to support its Finance & Treasury function. The role combines core accounting duties with treasury and correspondent banking responsibilities, ensuring accurate execution, recording and reconciliation of treasury and trading transactions.

Key responsibilities

• Support execution, confirmation and settlement of money market, fixed income, FX and other treasury trades.
• Maintain dealing records, deal tickets and settlement instructions, and monitor daily cash, liquidity and nostro balances.
• Prepare treasury reconciliations, mark‑to‑market schedules and position reports.
• Manage banking relationships, SWIFT messaging, KYC/CDD compliance and correspondent account documentation.
• Process and reconcile cross‑border payments and remittances, working with fintech partners.
• Prepare journal entries, GL postings and account reconciliations for treasury activities.
• Support month‑end/year‑end close, regulatory returns and audit exercises.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, AML/CFT regulations and Nigerian financial regulations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Professional accounting certification (ICAN, ACCA or equivalent) required.
• 3–5 years of experience in accounting, treasury operations or trading support, preferably in banking or fintech.
• Exposure to cross‑border payments, remittance operations and fintech payment platforms.
• Knowledge of Nigerian financial services regulatory requirements.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of treasury operations, money‑market and FX instruments.
• Proficiency in core banking/treasury applications and accounting software.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (financial modelling, reconciliation, reporting).
• Familiarity with SWIFT messaging, nostro/vostro account structures and correspondent banking processes.
• Knowledge of IFRS and internal control principles.
