Accountant

About the role

Finesse Capital is looking for an Accountant in Abuja to manage its day-to-day financial operations. The role ensures accurate record-keeping, regulatory compliance and timely financial reporting, supports the Head of Finance, and helps safeguard the company's financial assets. It is a full-time, mid-senior level position.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger accounts, post journal entries, accruals, prepayments and adjustments, and keep the fixed asset register and depreciation schedules.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations, monitor cash positions and prepare cash flow reports; manage petty cash.
• Process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements and expense claims; issue client invoices and follow up on overdue receivables.
• Prepare and remit PAYE, WHT, VAT and other statutory deductions, file tax returns with FIRS and liaise with tax consultants and external auditors.
• Prepare monthly staff payroll, including PAYE, pension and other statutory deductions, and process salary payments by bank transfer.
• Assist in monthly management accounts, quarterly and annual IFRS-compliant reports, budget variance analyses, board reports and external audit.
• Support internal controls, audit processes and regulatory reporting to CBN, NDIC and SEC.
• Support annual budgeting, forecasting, capital planning and investment decisions.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field; a master's degree is an added advantage.
• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in financial services, banking, asset management or a regulated environment.
• Experience with IFRS, tax compliance and financial reporting.
• Exposure to CBN and SEC regulatory reporting is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Accounting software such as Sage, QuickBooks or ERP systems.
• Advanced MS Excel.
