Accountant

About the role

Hec Recruit is recruiting an Accountant for a position based in Victoria Island, Lagos. The role covers day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting and compliance with tax and statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable and the general ledger
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, reports and statements
• Handle monthly bank reconciliations and ensure all transactions are properly recorded
• Prepare budgets, monitor expenditures and assist with financial forecasting
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations, statutory deductions and timely filing
• Manage payroll processing and petty cash administration
• Liaise with external auditors, banks and tax authorities when required
• Implement and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures

Required profile

• BSc or HND in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Minimum of 2 years' experience as an Accountant
• Professional certification such as ICAN or ACA in view is an added advantage
• Must reside around Victoria Island, Lekki or in easily accessible areas

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or Zoho Books
• Strong knowledge of MS Excel and financial reporting
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical and organizational skills
• High level of integrity and confidentiality
