Staff Accountant

About the role

Valuesoft is hiring a Staff Accountant in Lagos (Marina) to handle day-to-day accounting, support the month-end close and help clients set up their accounting software. The role suits someone with around 1 year of hands-on accounting experience.

Key responsibilities

• Record day-to-day transactions: payables, receivables, expenses and payroll inputs.
• Prepare monthly bank reconciliations using ReconIQ.
• Support the month-end close: accruals, prepayments, fixed asset register and schedules.
• Prepare VAT, WHT and PAYE schedules for review and keep the filing calendar up to date.
• Keep supporting documents organised and audit-ready.
• Support client ReconIQ implementations under the Accounting Manager: data preparation, testing and reconciliation reviews.
• Help prepare monthly management reports.

Required profile

• B.Sc. or HND in Accounting or a related field.
• ICAN or ACCA qualification, or good progress toward one.
• 1-3 years of hands-on accounting experience; an audit or accounting-firm background is welcome.
• Working knowledge of Nigerian tax: VAT, WHT and PAYE.

Required skills

• Solid bank reconciliation and month-end skills.
• Strong Excel.
• Willingness to learn new tools, including AI.
