Vice President of Operations – Microfinance Bank

About the role

The Vice President of Operations will lead the day‑to‑day operational functions of a microfinance bank in Ilorin, Kwara. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the role combines strategic execution with regulatory oversight to drive growth, efficiency and compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Translate Board‑approved strategies into operational plans and measurable KPIs across all departments.
• Ensure compliance with Central Bank of Nigeria regulations, AML/CFT, KYC and data‑protection requirements.
• Oversee deposit mobilization, credit administration, loan portfolio performance and risk management.
• Drive digital transformation, including mobile banking, digital lending and automation of manual processes.
• Manage internal controls, fraud prevention, cybersecurity and incident resolution.
• Monitor financial performance, control operational expenses and improve cost‑to‑income ratios.
• Report operational results, risks and opportunities to the Board and support governance activities.
• Lead customer‑experience initiatives, set service standards and monitor satisfaction metrics.
• Provide leadership to operational teams, set staffing structures and develop succession plans.
• Coordinate with technology partners, fintech providers and internal IT to ensure system reliability.

Required profile

• CBN‑approved qualification and professional standing to operate at Managing Director level in a microfinance bank.
• Extensive experience in Nigerian banking or micro‑finance industry, with a strong track record in operational leadership.
• Demonstrated ability to manage regulatory compliance, risk, and large‑scale operational projects.
• Proven expertise in driving digital banking initiatives and process automation.
• Strong governance and board‑reporting experience.
