Upholstery Officer

About the role

A client in the Nigerian interior design, furniture manufacturing, stainless-steel manufacturing and luxury furniture sector is hiring an Upholstery Officer in Lagos. The officer assembles, pads, covers and finishes furniture according to design and quality standards, working hands-on with fabric, foam, leather, tools and machinery.

Key responsibilities

• Assess job orders and final outcome images before work begins, raising concerns and confirming the desired result.
• Cut, sew, staple and fit upholstery materials onto furniture frames.
• Measure and mark fabric or leather for cutting and fitting.
• Operate upholstery equipment such as staple guns and sewing machines safely and efficiently.
• Select materials for each furniture type according to design instructions.
• Inspect finished pieces for alignment, wrinkles and defects, and repair or rework defective upholstery.
• Keep the workstation clean and organized so fabrics stay pristine.
• Track material usage and report shortages to the supervisor.
• Follow safety and operational guidelines and collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines.

Performance expectations

• Complete each furniture item within the agreed upholstery timeframe.
• Maintain a high quality of finish and low error/rework rate.
• Comply with safety standards and handle materials efficiently with minimal waste.
