UK Expert Counselor (Abuja Office)

About the role

A dynamic, knowledgeable and student-focused UK Expert Counselor is sought to advise students who want to study in the United Kingdom. The role covers the full journey from university selection and applications to visa compliance, and is based in the Abuja office.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct one-on-one counseling sessions (in person and virtually) to assess students' academic background, career goals and finances, and recommend suitable UK universities, colleges and programmes (Foundation, undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD).
• Guide students through the UCAS process and university application portals, and review and refine personal statements, CVs, recommendation letters and transcripts.
• Monitor application tracking systems so applications are submitted on time and admissions offices respond quickly.
• Advise on Tier 4 / Student Route visa rules, maintenance and tuition proof, and TB testing; help with credibility interviews and pre-CAS compliance checks.
• Build relationships with university representatives, regional managers and partners, and represent the organisation at education fairs, webinars, school workshops and promotional events.
• Meet conversion targets and recruitment milestones, and keep accurate CRM records of student interactions and application milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Education, Communications or a related field (Master's is a plus).
• Minimum 2-4 years of experience as an education counselor, international student advisor or recruitment manager in the UK higher education sector.
• British Council Advanced Agent / Country First certification (or equivalent) highly preferred.
• Knowledge of the UK education system, Russell Group universities, credit frameworks and scholarships, and current UKVI student visa rules.

Required skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication and cross-cultural interpersonal skills.
• Detail-oriented, with strong organisational and time-management abilities.
• Proficiency with CRM tools, MS Office and virtual collaboration software.
