Telecom Civil Engineering Technician – Lagos

About the role

Fiberco is seeking a Telecom Civil Engineering Technician to support the construction and maintenance of fiber‑optic and telecom infrastructure in Lagos. You will work on site, preparing, executing, and monitoring civil works to ensure high‑quality, compliant, and durable network deployments.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field surveys of poles, manholes, trench routes and roadways; identify technical and environmental constraints.
• Prepare and mark work areas, read and interpret civil engineering and fiber‑optic plans.
• Carry out or supervise trenching, micro‑trenching, duct and conduit installation, manhole placement, and telecom accessory mounting.
• Perform road reinstatement (carriageways, sidewalks) and install signage and safety measures in line with HSE standards.
• Collaborate with telecom teams to install supports (poles, pylons, anchors) and perform basic continuity and cable routing tests.
• Conduct end‑of‑site inspections, document work with photos, measurements and as‑built drawings, and report anomalies or corrective actions.

Required profile

• CAP, High School Diploma, BTS or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, Public Works, Electricity or Networks.
• Minimum 1 year experience in underground civil works (telecom or public works) and fiber‑optic deployment.
• Rigorous, disciplined, safety‑focused, physically fit for outdoor and underground environments, and able to work effectively in a team.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering applied to telecom networks.
• Ability to read technical drawings, execution files and civil engineering plans.
• Expertise in earthworks, installation of chambers/ducts and road reinstatement.
• Basic knowledge of fiber‑optic networks (FTTH, FTTx).
• Proficiency with measurement tools and field equipment.
