Recruitment Officer – Human Resources

About the role

The Recruitment Officer will support the full recruitment lifecycle at the American University of Nigeria, working closely with the HR team and hiring managers to attract, screen and select qualified candidates.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate recruitment processes, interview applicants, evaluate applications, check references and determine eligibility against qualification requirements.
• Review position opening information and liaise with hiring officials to prepare recruitment activities and ensure classification compliance.
• Guide hiring officials on qualification requirements and obtain supplementary information for candidate evaluation.
• Assist in drafting job vacancy announcements and post them on the university’s employment site, bulletin boards, newspapers, professional journals and other recruitment channels.
• Ensure policy consistency and equity by providing recruitment, interviewing, selection, placement, orientation and redeployment services.
• Maintain HR forms stock, track start and end dates of part‑time and contract staff, and review employee record forms for completeness.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• BSc or HND in a related field.
• Two to three years of post‑NYSC experience.
• Knowledge of multiple human‑resource disciplines and of federal and state employment and benefit laws.
• Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
• Ability to analyze data and provide recommendations.
• Commitment to confidentiality regarding personnel files and records.
