Project Officer – Rule of Law and Human Rights

About the role

The Project Officer will support the Rule of Law and Human Rights team in implementing UNDP Nigeria's Rule of Law Programme. Working under the Rule of Law and Human Rights Advisor, the officer will help ensure innovative, coherent, and high‑quality delivery of project activities across the country.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance to stakeholders to improve mechanisms for rule of law, human rights, and access to justice.
• Monitor trends in human rights violations, identify gaps in justice institutions, and advocate for enhanced service delivery.
• Assist in designing and developing rule of law and human rights programme activities.
• Support capacity‑building initiatives for justice and rule of law institutions and NGOs.
• Collaborate with partner organisations, including NGOs and community‑based groups, to achieve programme objectives.
• Contribute to assessment, monitoring, and evaluation of rule of law initiatives and prepare reports and case studies.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of experience in human rights, rule of law, peacebuilding, or related programmes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Human Rights, Peacebuilding, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Demonstrated professionalism, integrity, teamwork, and commitment to continuous learning.
